HerStory is a movement created to tell the stories of modern, historic and mythic women from Ireland and around the world. It was founded in 2016 by Melanie Lynch. HerStory are dedicated to a democracy of representation. “This is a platform for ALL women” is highlighted in their guidelines.

As part of this project we each received two female activists names and were required to create a portrait of each activist. The only rules for the designs is that they had to consist of vibrant colours with bold dark outlines and they must be A3 size in landscape orientation. The minimal requirements allowed for me to showcase my style as a designer.

The movements mission is to give the public authentic female role models and a game-changing egalitarian education programme, inspiring countries around the world to start their own Herstory movements.

For the past three years Herstory has held a lightshow to celebrate St.Brigid. Significant buildings around Dublin and Ireland are projected with images and artwork of honourable women. For this year’s project, the theme is student activists. This lightshow aims to amplify student voices and highlight causes that are important to them: climate action, girl’s education, mental health, racism, migrants rights, preserving indigenous cultures and more.

This year’s light show is took place on January 31st and February 1st, illuminating landmarks such as Trinity College, The GPO, Kildare Cathedral and many more. The images below show my designs displayed on Trinity College Dublin.
